A joint project of Portland-based nonprofits Mercy Corps and The Climate Trust, this online tool both measures personal carbon-dioxide output and allows users to offset their emissions through online donations. First, users measure the amount of carbon dioxide they produce each year at home, commuting, and through air travel. Then they have the opportunity to mitigate their carbon-dioxide output with donations to The Climate Trust's portfolio of offset projects, which reduce CO2 levels across a range of sectors, including investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency, transportation efficiency, and reforestation.
