Composed of an international group of researchers and scientists, the ASB Working Group on Climate Change seeks to determine which land-use systems sequester more carbon and reduce trace gas emissions. To do so, the group quantifies above- and below-ground carbon stocks in different land-use systems following forest clearing and quantifies net greenhouse gas emissions from those different systems. Further, by linking their results to profitability data collected by other ASB researchers, the group has examined trade-offs between global environmental benefits and local economic benefits to farmers. "ASB Climate Change Working Group Final Report, Phase II," available online, details the group's findings.
