Big Boost on Efficiency

Wallmart as the biggest customer is to set in motion a whole supply chain network worldwide toward energy efficiency actions in a broad sense, both structural and behavioral. An example to follow by other not just big customers in the business world.

Product-level carbon labels might not be best approach

it's great that Walmart is mobilizing its 100,000 suppliers to think about carbon and sustainability, but it's critical that the information systems put in place generate information useful for carbon management. Walmart's objective seems to be to label each product at the SKU level, which could be very expensive, cumbersome, generate supplier resistance, and not actually generate the needed information at the process and facility level.
