SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) and the U.S. EPA yesterday released a new report developed to give an overview and a roadmap for businesses that are seeking to make the most of a partnership with one of the EPA's 35 climate-related programs.

The report, "A Business Guide to U.S. EPA Climate Partnership Programs," aims to rigorously evaluate -- from a corporate managers' perspective -- the environmental and business benefits of participating in voluntary government climate programs.

"There is currently a sense of 'initiative fatigue' in the business community, and many BSR members have told us they need help prioritizing the numerous opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions," said Ryan Schuchard, BSR's Environmental Research & Development Associate. "We are thrilled to be releasing this guide with the EPA because it minimizes the legwork necessary for companies to understand each program and identify a short list of programs that meet their business needs."

The guide profiles the EPA's climate Partnership Programs, and organizes them by business value, services offered, program descriptions and applicable industries. It also outlines how companies have invested in climate-friendly technologies to receive recognition for their efforts, save on costs and waste-disposal needs, and to get out in front of potential climate legislation.

The EPA Partnership Programs profiled in the resource also offer technical assistance, financial and environmental analysis tools, training, seminars, networking, guidebooks and environmental performance benchmarking.

"A Business Guide to U.S. EPA Climate Partnership Programs" is available to download from GreenBiz.com. More information about the resource is posted on BSR.org and on www.epa.gov/partners.
